All P.I.C.E. teachers have qualifications approved by the Australian government. Many have had experience overseas. The accent at P.I.C.E. is international. Here are a couple of teacher profiles for you to get to know some of our teachers
Nicki Paterson
Dip Ed, BA (Hons), MA, CELTA
Nicki has been teaching since 1995. She began her career as an English language and Literature teacher in secondary schools, working in Singapore to begin with and, later, Perth. After a brief period as a volunteer teacher with the Adult Migrant Education Service, Nicki qualified to teach in ELICOS courses. She has taught ESL at all levels and at various academic institutions, including Edith Cowan University and Curtin University. Since starting at Perth International College of English in August 2003, Nicki's teaching has included CAE and LCCI exam preparation.
Deirdre Conway
B.A. (Hons), CTEFLA, DTEFLA, M. Ed. (ELT)
Deirdre has been teaching since 1979. Originally from Tasmania, she was a high school teacher for 7 years, both in Tasmania and Darwin. In 1984, she went to England to study to become an English language teacher. Since then, she has taught in Egypt, Spain and Singapore. In the last 13 years, she has also worked mainly as a Teacher Trainer on the Cambridge CELTA and DELTA teacher training programmes. She loves teaching and is very pleased to be working at PICE!
Nick Yaksich
B.A. CELTA
Nick has worked at PICE since July 2002. During that time he has taught General English at all levels from Elementary to Advanced. He has also taught Cambridge Exam Preparation classes and electives in Drama, Music & Song and Skills Development. Nick's background is in the theatre and he has extensive experience as a Drama Teacher and an Arts Manager. He puts his well-developed creative and artistic skills to good use in his language teaching. Nick is a family man with two young children.
